The Great Tobanyaki at Rosanjin Japanese Restaurant

Japanese food has always been a cuisine most favored globally. Through the years, as the ever-changing world of culinary arts flourished, we witnessed the Japanese cuisine grow with it, but still maintaining its reputation as a source of quality seafood and meat. 



Rosanjin, brought by the same group that created Sandaya Yakiniku, is a Japanese restaurant offering authentic Japanese experience by using quality ingredients imported from Japan. Last Friday, my fellow foodies and I have been given the opportunity to explore the best Rosanjin has to offer through a Zomato FMU.

For a carnivore such as myself, being given the chance to try premium beef cuts is a dream come true. I used to not care about the higher grade meat. To me, as long as it's beef, I'm happy. But this visit to Rosanjin changed all that. 

I enjoyed the Tobanyaki a lot. It's the grilling of Japanese premium yakiniku on a small, ceramic plate, which, upon research, meant that employing this technique helps cook the meat evenly. I can't remember which one is which, but the marinates were all the same. Well, scratch that. Forget about the marinate! The juiciness and the tenderness of each slice of the meat is a good enough reason to fall in love with it. Not to exaggerate, but my eyes widened after the first bite, just like they did in commercials. It's just pure heaven.

This is Rosanjin's freshest catch all in one plate. My favorite was the salmon. It was prepared so simply, with just lemon, pepper and some butter, but the result was amazing. 

Taiyo Sushi Cake P300

The taste of their sushi cakes were very light but also filling. I found the Taiyo more flavorful, as it had more ingredients to it, but the cheese in the Hana was able to add a little more twist to it in the end, making up for the slightly bland taste. I also suggest trying to use some dipping sauce for these sushi cakes. I wasn't able to try it, but I think it'll make it better.

Tempura (Big) P600
It's usually hard to make a classic dish like a tempura stand out, but Rosanjin managed to do it anyway. I loved how their tempura was lightly battered, not taking the focus away from the shrimp itself. Their sauce also matched their tempura so well. 

Seafood Chahan P250
Their chahan is good for two people, and comes with a big bowl of miso soup. I liked how flavorful both the pork and seafood chahan were, but my favorite would be the latter because of how insanely flavor-packed and loaded it was with seafood. For the price, the serving size, the taste and the generous amount of toppings, this has to be one of my most recommended dishes from Rosanjin.

I was also able to appreciate their sesame milkshake. The sesame, although tasted a bit weird (because it wasn't really milky), was a uniquely Japanese drink I've never encountered before.

In the end, I'm still in awe after our foodie meet up at Rosanjin. Their seafood chahan and melt-in-your-mouth tobanyaki are sure worth the visit.
