Livestock has never crossed my mind when it comes to planning my foodtrips since it's a restobar, so I was expecting a different vibe, but I was proven wrong.

This was the first stop in the Uptown foodcrawl itinerary made by my friend EJ. I was amused at its ambiance the moment I entered its doors. Lights out of mason jars, large, oblong mirrors and some pork-related puns on the walls. It was a lovely place to dine in.

We ordered their crackling pork belly, salted egg rice, and four egg spinach.

Livestock Crackling Pork Belly (good for 2-3 persons) P320
Tender and flavorful pork belly topped with crispy pork skin. An order comes with two sauces, vinegar and one like lechon sauce. The pork belly was tender, but I found it a bit salty at first, before I used any of the sauces. The lechon sauce was a good match with the pork, however, I liked their vinegar way better, as it contradicted the saltiness of the pork and gave it a burst of flavors.

Salted Egg Rice (Petite) P98
The serving size for this is a bit huge to be called "petite" size. It's good for around 3-4 people. The salted egg rice tasted more like the basic yang chow fried rice with some salted egg bits. It didn't use that much salted egg, but it was good enough.

Four Egg Spinach P230

Spinach with century eggs, salted duck eggs, egg whites and sunny side-up quail eggs. From the looks of it, the dish may be Livestock's attempt to adopt some techniques from the Chinese cook book, as this one looks like a bird's nest soup. The taste, however, wasn't that special, as it was a bit bland to me.

I had a wonderful time. Livestock has a large menu, and most of the dishes in there made me wonder, so I'll probably be back to try those out.

My score:
Pricing – 3.5/5
Service – 3.5/5
Ambiance – 4/5
Taste – 3.5/5
